Whether a plastic product is suitable for rotational molding, or whether rotational molding is the best choice for this product, we must make a comprehensive judgment based on the appearance, specification, material, cost, total number and other factors of the product. If there are several plastic molding methods can be considered to do this plastic products, you can refer to the advantages and disadvantages of rotational molding process, using enumeration method to select the best molding method.

1. Determine if it's a hollow product

If it is not hollow products, and not foam solid core products, then the foundation can be removed and produced by rotational molding. If it is a hollow product, there are several methods to form hollow products, such as blow molding, thermoforming and rotational molding, and each method has its advantages and disadvantages. There are some overlapping areas in the selection of methods. It can only be said that rotational molding is one of the choices for manufacturing this commodity.

2. See product specifications

If the volume of the plastic products to be made is very large, and at least one of the size specifications exceeds the capacity of today's blow molding machine, or the total width of the thermoforming sheet that can be obtained in industry, then the basis can be removed for blow molding or thermoforming, that is to say, this kind of products can only be produced by rotational molding.

3. It looks like

If the three-dimensional specifications of this product will be within the production capacity of the three molding methods, the next step is to see the appearance of the product. If the appearance is complex, such as the filter residue container, the application of blow molding or thermoforming can not produce the overall product. At this time, it can only be made by rotational molding.

4. Look at the ingredients

That is to say, it depends on what kind of raw materials the products are made of. If the material of this product is polypropylene, it cannot be made by thermoforming. If liquid PVC plasticized paste is used, it can only be produced by rotational molding.

5. Look at the product structure

If the product consists of a closed parallel double wall structure, rotational molding is the preferred molding method, because thermoforming requires more complex and expensive multi-function molds. Rotational molding is also the best choice when the thickness of the product is uniform or the outer corner is firm.

6. Look at the mold composition

If the mold is more complex or composed of two pieces, the equipment can not automatically demould, the product can not be produced by thermoplastic molding or blow molding. The demoulding base of rotational molding is all carried out by manpower, even the more complex mold can also be carried out by manpower, so this product can only be produced by rotational molding.

7. Look at the inlays

If the product has inserts and inserts, it is necessary to select the processing method according to the complexity of the integration of inserts and products. Rotational molding needs higher complexity than blow molding and thermoforming. In addition, the fusion color fastness of embedded parts by rotational molding is the best of the three molding methods.

8. Efficiency and cost

If the three methods are still feasible after the application of the comparison method, the production cost and efficiency of the product will be improved. Although the cost of blow molding is generally high, the production speed is faster and the production efficiency is high. If we calculate the production volume and efficiency, we can get the cost price. If the demand for this hollow product is very large, under normal conditions. Blow molding costs the least. The cost of rotational molding is lower than that of blow molding, and the delivery time of small batch production is also lower than that of blow molding. But because the production efficiency of rotational molding is relatively low, when the number of products is large, the cost will rise, and its advantages will be reduced or even missing. The efficiency and cost of thermoforming are generally close to the middle of blow molding and rotational molding. Therefore, it is cost-effective to use rotational molding when the demand for goods is small, and it is necessary to choose blow molding or thermoforming when the demand for goods is large.

All in all, the final selection of a certain molding method to make a plastic product does not mean that other molding methods must not be adopted, but only the optimal selection is made after considering various factors.
